Carrot farming is rapidly gaining traction among farmers in Chattogram due to the soaring demand for this versatile vegetable in the kitchen market.

Notably, Farmer Noor Alam has achieved unprecedented success by pioneering experimental carrot cultivation in Mirsrai, Chattogram. The carrots, akin to potatoes, are slowly maturing beneath the soil, drawing essential nutrients to thrive and produce bountiful yields, with a touch of tenderness visible in the young leaves.
Assisted by the Agriculture Office, Noor Alam has ambitiously cultivated carrots across 500 acres of land in Gariaish village, Mirsrai Sadar Union, yielding a profitable venture. The low-cost, high-profit potential of carrot farming has sparked a surge in interest among local farmers.
Witnessing carrots being cultivated for the first time in the area, curious onlookers flocked to the garden, captivated by the scenic beauty of the carrot fields. Enthusiastic locals, including many farmers in Elka, are now expressing keen interest in embracing carrot cultivation.
Speaking about his groundbreaking venture, Farmer Noor Alam shared, "This is my inaugural attempt at carrot cultivation, guided by the valuable advice of the Agriculture Office. I am gearing up for even better yields in the future, having invested around Tk 20 thousand with ongoing support from the Agriculture Office. The market value of carrots is promising, and I anticipate potential earnings of up to Tk 1 lakh ."
In response to the burgeoning interest in carrot farming, Upazila Agriculture Officer Pratap Chandra Roy emphasized the nutritional value of carrots and identified them as a promising cash crop in the agricultural sector. He highlighted the need for proper marketing and storage systems to ensure the benefits reach farmers, reassuring continued support from the agriculture office. Roy expressed optimism that more farmers in Mirsrai would seize this opportunity, propelling the region into a thriving hub for carrot cultivation.
