The construction of a pivotal bypass road within Jashore Municipality, left in disrepair for over 40 years, has finally commenced, bringing relief to the local people who had long clamored for its reconstruction year after year. The nearly 1-kilometer stretch, situated at Ward 7, linking Ishaque Sarak with Chotoner Mor, had become an insurmountable obstacle for commuters.
Councillor Shahid Hussain Nayon, representing the ward, fulfilled a pre-election promise to address this long-standing issue, despite facing numerous challenges. Nayon, an ardent follower of the visionary leader Sheikh Hasina, emphasized his commitment to development. "We pledged to construct the road before the city corporation election, and I am delighted to have kept my word. This is a significant step toward uplifting the living standards of our people," remarked Nayon.
The road, plagued by numerous potholes, incurred a cost of nearly 1 crore, causing widespread difficulties for the public, particularly affecting patients and the elderly. Residents of the area had long felt isolated, especially during the rainy season, when the road became virtually impassable.
Local resident Arifur Rahman Razib expressed relief at the positive turn of events, stating, "Many councillors made promises, but none delivered. Finally, a young councillor from our ward has fulfilled the commitment to revive this essential roadway."
Mamun, an easybike driver, shared the sentiment of skepticism that prevailed among the locals, recalling, "We never believed this road would be reconstructed. It was a nightmare during the rainy season, and we actively avoided it due to the risk of accidents."
Highlighting the broader impact of the councillor's efforts, another local resident praised the concurrent development of several critical small roads and infrastructure projects within the ward.
The councillor himself reflected on the challenges faced during the reconstruction, citing the long-standing impassibility of the road as a contributing factor to the project's difficulty and cost.
The resurrection of this vital road marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve the infrastructure and connectivity within Jashore Municipality, promising a brighter future for its residents.
