Two people were killed when a truck hit a motorcycle in Jashore's Monirampur upazila on Wednesday (21 February) evening.
The deceased were identified as Nur Mohammad, 42, son of Momin Haque of Mahmudkati village of the upazila, and Sabuj Hossain, 27, son of deceased Joynal Abedin of Raghunathpur village.
The accident occurred at Basudebpur Pattri area of Manirampur-Jhikargacha road around 6:30 pm, said ABM Mehdi Masud, officer-in-charge (OC) of Manirampur Police Station.
Witnesses said that the victims were coming from Jhikargacha on a motorcycle in the evening. When they reached Vasudebpur Pattri area, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the bike, leaving Nur Mohammad dead on the spot.
Sabuj was taken to the nearby Jhikargacha Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition where doctors declared him dead.
The bodies would be sent to Jashore district hospital morgue for autopsies on Thursday morning, said the OC.
Legal action is underway in this regard, he said.
