Bus-truck collision in Madaripur, death toll rises to 4

Another person was killed in a collision between a truck and a bus on Bangabandhu Expressway at Suryanagar area of ​​Shibchar in Madaripur district. With the latest, the death tally rose to 4. Among the dead are women and children.

At least 10 others were injured in this incident. The accident took place near Suryanagar bus stand of Dattapara Union of Shivchar on Bangabandhu Expressway around 7:30 on Thursday (22 February) night.

Shibchar Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed this information.

Locals said that a bus of Hanif Paribahan was going to Barishal from Dhaka. When the bus reached a place called Suryanagar in Shivchar, it hit a truck in front and the bus overturned. Two people died on the spot. Later, another person died on the way to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex and another person died on the way to Bhanga Upazila Hospital in Faridpur.

Besides, five injured people were taken to the Royal Hospital in Pacchar area of ​​Shivchar and they were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Some people have also been taken to nearby hospitals.

Shivchar Highway Police Station OC Md. Shakeel said that two people died on the spot in the accident. The injured were rescued and sent to the nearest hospital. Two others died there.
