Two people were killed in Lalmohan upazila and over hundred houses damaged by a storm in the district on Sunday (7 April) morning.
The deceased were identified as Haris, 68, and Bachchu, 40. Both were the residents of Lalmohan upazila.
Lalmohan Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Toihidul Islam said Haris died in a mud slide during the storm while Bachchu died as a thunderstorm hit him.
Monpura and Tazumuddin upazilas were also affected by the storm. Houses and crops were damaged, trees and utility poles were uprooted in the three upazilas of the district by the storm.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Arifuzzaman said the families of victims Haris and Bachchu will get Tk 25,000 each. Rice was allocated for people of the affected upazilas, he added.
