Residents of Raipur, Laksmipur, are grappling with severe heatwaves and frequent power disruptions, bringing daily life to a standstill. The scorching temperatures have halted normal activities, causing distress among the populace. The lack of airflow exacerbates the situation, leaving people feeling restless and uncomfortable.

Workers face added challenges, with power outages compounding the difficulties of daily life. Raipur recorded a peak temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, intensifying the heatwave's impact.

Local residents report enduring high temperatures for several days, with conditions worsening notably on Friday (April 19). The oppressive heat makes it feel as though one's body is on fire, forcing many to limit outdoor activities between noon and 5 pm.

Moreover, as temperatures soar, the frequency of power cuts has surged in the area. Nighttime blackouts occur two to three times a night, causing significant inconvenience, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.

Yusuf, a motorcycle taxi driver, notes a decline in passenger numbers due to the unbearable heat. He emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated but expresses frustration over the lack of relief from the relentless heat.

Shah Alam describes the unbearable sensation of burning eyes and face, exacerbated by the relentless power cuts. The disruption to sleep patterns due to nighttime outages further compounds the challenges of coping with the extreme temperatures.

According to officials from the Raipur Rural Electricity department, the increase in power cuts stems from a shortfall in electricity supply, with demand outpacing availability by half. Load shedding measures are expected to persist throughout the month.

General Manager Shahadat Hossain acknowledges the severity of the situation, stating that load shedding occurs at various times of the day and night due to the inadequate supply of electricity, with no immediate resolution in sight.
