Head Teacher Roshan Ara Begum of Salua Fazle Rabbi High School for Girls in Phulchhari Upazila, Gaibandha, is facing allegations of unauthorized recruitment. She is accused of secretly issuing job notices without the approval of the school's managing committee. The committee president and teacher representative were unaware of any recruitment notice published in the newspaper.

Syed Monirul Islam, the Upazila Secondary Education Officer, stated that according to regulations, the head teacher must obtain the signed approval of the managing committee's president before publishing a recruitment notice in the newspaper. Any recruitment process conducted without the committee's resolution is deemed illegal, and legal action will be taken if it is proven that the recruitment notice was issued without proper authorization.

Roshan Ara Begum, who is set to retire on May 15, 2024, is alleged to have attempted to profit financially by initiating recruitment for several school positions. On April 17, she published recruitment notices in two newspapers for the posts of office assistants, computer lab operators, and cleaners, bypassing the school's managing committee meeting and resolution.

On the day the notices were published, she reportedly collected all the newspapers in Gaibandha and went into hiding. Furthermore, she neglected to display the recruitment circular on the notice board and at the Upazila education office, as required by the rules.

Despite the secrecy surrounding the publication of the recruitment notice, word spread, and many individuals applied for the advertised positions. The application period concluded on May 2. It is alleged that Roshan Ara Begum extorted a significant amount of money from applicants by promising them employment.

The scandal came to light when committee president Farzana Rabbi Bubli discovered the unauthorized notice, sparking outrage among parents. Bubli, also the general secretary of Phulchhari Upazila Awami League, emphasized her focus on the school's infrastructure and vowed to take action against Begum.

Begum has denied the allegations, saying that she would not act without informing the president and that the truth will be revealed in time.
