A fire that broke out at the store room of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur has been doused.
Assistant Director of Faridpur Fire Service, Md Asaduzzaman, said the fire broke out at the store room of the hospital's first floor around 9 am and engulfed the whole room.
Sensing smoke billowing from the store room, the staff informed the local fire service who extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes.
The firefighting units faced some difficulty in extinguishing the blaze due to the congested stairs.
However, the extent of the losses caused by the fire could not be known immediately.
Dipak Kumar, deputy director of the hospital, said medicine, machinery, refrigerators and other valuable things were stored at the store room of the hospital.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Quamrul Ahsan Talukdar and Superintendent of Faridpur Police Morshed Alam visited the spot.
