Additional District Magistrate and Returning Officer of Ishwardi Upazila Parishad Elections Abdullah Al Mamun issued a show cause notice to the chairman candidate of Anaras Pratik Emdadul Haque Rana Sardar for violating the code of conduct in Ishwardi Upazila Parishad elections.

According to the show cause notice sent by Returning Officer Abdullah Al Mamun on Tuesday (14 May),  Rana Sardar is contesting as an independent chairman candidate in Ishwardi in the 6th Upazila Parishad election to be held on May 29. On the morning of May 13, he was allotted the Anaras Pratik. Another rival chairman candidate in this election, Abul Kalam Azad Mintu, filed a charge sheet against Rana Sardar on May 14, alleging violation of the code of conduct. According to his complaint filed and online social media sources, showdowns and marches were held on May 13 in support of Anaras Pratik. Which is a gross violation of the Upazila Parishad (Election Conduct) Rules.

In the notice, Rana Sardar has been asked to appear in person within the next three days to respond to the show-cause letter, alleging violation of Sections 11 (2) and 13 (a) of the Election Rules, 2016.

Chairman candidate Rana Sardar said in this regard, I have received a letter from the returning officer showing the reasons. We will discuss this among ourselves and take necessary measures.
