Boro paddy and rice procurement drive began in Nandigram upazila of the district on Thursday (16 May) amid much enthusiasm.
Officials of upazila food department sources said the government has fixed a target to procure a total of 1,985 tonnes of rice and 1,226 tonnes of Boro paddy from the farmers in Nandigram upazila of the district during the current Boro season.
Member of Parliament of Bogura-4 constituency AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen inaugurated the procurement drive as the chief guest, held at the Nandigram upazila food warehouse square with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Humayun Kabir in the chair.
Nandigram Municipal Awami League President Md Bakul Hossain, its Organizing Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Bablu, Upazila Food Controller Majedul Islam, Upazila Food Inspector Farooq Alamgir, among others, were present.
Officials of upazila food department sources said the paddy and rice procurement campaign started from today and it will continue till August 31.
