As part of the anti-drug drives in the capital, the members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested a total of 32 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6 am on Monday (27 May).
According to a release issued by the DMP, police conducted these operations against the drug sellers and consumers in different areas under various police stations in the metropolis.
They also detained a total of 32 drug traffickers and recovered huge drugs from their possessions from 6 am on May 26 to 6 am today.
During the anti-drug raids, police seized 720 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 478 grams of heroin, 87.150 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 59 bottles of phensidyle syrup, 28 bottles of locally produced liquor, and two bottles of foreign liquor from their possessions, the release added.
Police filed 26 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
