At least six persons were killed and over 50 people injured and about 7 thousand homesteads including dwelling houses were damaged by the cyclone "Remel" which swapped all over the seven upazila of Bhola district from the 26th night to 27th of May whole day.
Following stayed of a long time the local damage occurred throughout the district. District control room sources said that one named Moneja Khatun (55) of Char Umed village, of Lalmohon, a minor girl Maysa, 4, daughter of Monir of Daulat khan another one Charpata union of was unidentified, Jahangir (50) and another one of Pokkhia union was unidentified in Borhan Uddin, and another unidentified in Bedhuria was died in Bhola sadar by the cyclone Remel in Bhola district during the time.
At a long time cyclonic storm ten villages were inundated by 6 feet high tidal surge in isolated Monpura upazila situated in the coastal area near the Bay. At the time flood protection embankments in a point area collapsed and about ten thousand people were marooned in this upazila. Where several kilometer under construction bricks road were washed away by the high tidal water. Hajirhat union chairman Monir Uddin and Shakucia union chairman Waliullah confirm the closal damages.
Power supply and mobile net work was totally collapsed during the last 36 hour in this district. Bangladesh Power development board office sources said that about one hundred electric polls in the rural area were broken down and that is why the electricity supply was snapped.
Agriculture extension Department of Bhola said that thousand of acres of Aush paddy and vegetables land were inundated by tidal water. But crops damages and loss were yet estimated.
Bhola deputy commissioner office control room sources said that about 2465 dwelling houses were totally and 5158 houses were partially damaged in Bhola district by the cyclonic storm Remel. Arifuzzaman Deputy Commissioner of Bhola said damages are being calculated and cash taka and rice were sanctioned and sent to the spot for distribution among affected people.
