2 killed in Sirajganj road accident

Two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Sirajganj-Raiganj road in Alampur area of Bahuli union under Sadar upazila of the district on Friday (31 May) night.

The deceased were identified as Mahadeb Saha, 60, of Raiganj upazila and Abu Obaida, 24, son of Abu Talha of Muktargati village in Sadar upazila.

The accident occurred in the area when the CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying passengers was going to Raiganj. On the way, it collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction around 10:30pm, leaving two passengers of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and three others injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Sirajul Islam said.

The injured were taken to Sirajganj 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital. Later, Jharna Rani was sent to Dhaka for better treatment, OC said.

The bodies were kept at hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed in this connection, the OC added.
