Implementation of e-governance must for smart BD

Implementation of work plan of e-governance and innovation can be the best way of building smart Bangladesh envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by 2041.

Both the public and private universities have a vital role towards generating smart workforces to take the country forward by meeting up the demands of the present challenging era.

Academics and experts made these observations while addressing a workshop titled "Role of Universities towards building Smart Bangladesh" at the senate building of Rajshahi University (RU) on Sunday (2 June).   

Member of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Sazzad Hossain addressed the workshop as chief guest while RU Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam was in the chair.

RU Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Humayun Kabir, Treasurer Prof Obayedur Rahman Pramanik and UGC Secretary Dr Ferdous Zaman spoke as special guests. RU Registrar Prof Tariqul Hassan moderated the discussion.

Speaking on the occasion as resource person, UGC Deputy Director Dwijendra Chandra Das talked about the implementation necessity of e-governance and innovation working plan along with its implementation guidelines.

He also focused on the significant issues in terms of preparing reports of e-governance and innovation working plans.

During his keynote presentation, UGC Additional Director Sahin Siraj gave an illustration on Vision-2041, Smart Bangladesh Outline in building developed Bangladesh and role of universities for building Smart Bangladesh.

In his remarks, UGC Member Sazzad Hossain said utmost emphasis should be given on transforming the human resources into power through proper education and modern training for making the country's economy more vibrant.
