Around 300 families have been affected as a nor’wester lashed Singra upazila of Natore district on Wednesday (5 June) night. The storm swept over several areas including Hatiandah, Kalam, Chamari, Dahiya and Sherkol unions in Singra upazila.
According to locals, the nor’wester uprooted numerous trees, both small and large, and damaged houses. Residents of those unions have been without electricity since last night as the power supply lines were severed after collapse of trees on them.
Hatiandaha UP Chairman Mostaqur Rahmani Chanchal said Aglarua, Chak Larua, Sonapara, Bara Saoil and Pat Saoil villages are the worst-hit. Dry food was initially distributed among the victims, he added. Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ha-Meem Tabassum Prabha said they making a list of thye victims.
