The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has embarked on a significant development project that is set to transform the rural landscape in Sharsha, Jashore. The initiative, which began on November 26 last year, involves the construction of a three-kilometer rural road connecting Lautara Islam's house in Sharsha to Goya in Benapole. The project is scheduled for completion by June 30 of this year.

The development activities under LGED's supervision have been instrumental in revamping rural townships, including government and semi-government institutions, thereby enhancing the overall infrastructure in the region.

Villagers who have long endured the hardships of unpaved roads are expressing their joy and gratitude towards LGED authorities. They recount the struggles of navigating dirt roads, especially during the rainy season, which often impeded travel, affected school attendance, and hindered the transportation of agricultural produce to markets. The completion of the road is expected to significantly elevate the standard of living for the rural population.

Kurban Ali, a Union Parishad (UP) member from Lautara village in Sharsha, shared his enthusiasm for the road development, emphasizing LGED's role in fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision of turning villages into cities. Mintu Mia, a UP member from Goya village in Benapole, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the road's historical challenges and the anticipated ease of travel once the construction is complete.

MM Mamun Hasan, an officer from the Local Government Engineering Directorate (LGED), provided an update on the project's progress, stating that 60 percent of the work has already been completed. He expressed confidence in finishing the development work ahead of schedule. The new road is anticipated to bring about a positive change in the fortunes of the residents of Lautara, Goya, and neighboring villages.

The LGED's ongoing efforts in rural road development are a testament to its commitment to improving connectivity and fostering economic growth in the country's rural areas.
