2 killed as truck ploughs into shop in Jashore

Two people were killed and another was injured when a truck ploughed through a shop on Rajarhat-Chuknagar road at Badhaghat in Manirampur upazila of Jashore district on Monday (10 June).

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 82, son of Anar Ali of Bijoyarampur village of Manirampur upazila and Jhantu Mia, 50, son of Deubhata village in Tangail’s Mirzapur upazila.

Shafayat Hossain, station officer of Manirampur Fire Service Station, said the Satkhira-bound goods-laden truck from Gazipur ploughed through the shop, leaving one dead on the spot and two others injured.

Later, they were taken to Manirampur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared one of them dead.

Liton Biswas, sub-inspector of Manirampur Police Station, said legal action will be taken.
