Three individuals, including an Indian national, lost their lives in separate road accidents in Satkhira on Wednesday (12 June) night.

The victims have been identified as Shahin Mandal, 20, from Basirhat in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India; Zulfikar Ali, 45, from Bahera Gurugram in Debhata upazila of Satkhira; and Monirul Islam, 34, from Krishnanagar village in Patkelghata of the same district.

In the first incident at Bhomra land port, Shahin Mandal was unloading stones from a truck when he fell. Another truck approaching from behind struck him, causing severe injuries. Shahin was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at midnight.

The second accident occurred at the Chakdaha Bridge area in Patkelghata. A Khulna-bound truck rear-ended a dumper truck on the Satkhira-Khulna highway around midnight. Zulfikar Ali and Monirul Islam, who were inside, sustained critical injuries when the dumper truck was severely damaged. They were transported to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, where they were pronounced dead around 2 am.

Both victims were declared dead by the duty doctor shortly after their arrival, said Biplob Kumar Nath, OC of Patkelghata Police Station.

The bodies have been sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies, according to the police officials.
