The Regional Training Center for the Health Department is commencing its operations in Chakaria, bringing modern healthcare training to the region. Established under the auspices of the Health Service Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, this center represents a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure, with an allocation of nearly 20 crore taka. Named the "Chakaria Regional Training Center," it will serve as a hub for training healthcare workers from 18 upazilas in South Chittagong.

Previously, healthcare workers had to travel to Dhaka or Chittagong for such training services, but now, with the establishment of this center, they can access diverse training opportunities closer to home. The center's construction has been overseen by contracting company JZEB ARAM (JEB), with modern infrastructure works initiated from November 20, 2023. The completed tasks include the construction of academic and hostel buildings, residential quarters, a garage, substation, and other essential facilities.

The initiative to establish this center comes after 54 years of independence, spearheaded by Brigadier General Mohammad Osman Sarwar, a native of Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar. However, there has been some debate over whether the center will be located in Cox's Bazar or Chakaria, with proposals made to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding its precise location.

The establishment of this center has been welcomed as it creates opportunities for healthcare workers in the region, eliminating the need for them to travel long distances for training. Assistant Engineer Mo. Morshedul Alam and a team of assistant engineers from the Health Engineering Department of Cox's Bazar have ensured the proper use of construction materials, overseeing the successful completion of the center's modern infrastructure.

Government Engineer Delowar Hossain, the Executive Engineer of the Health Engineering Department (HED) of Cox's Bazar, highlights the importance of the center in providing training opportunities closer to home. With construction progressing according to schedule, efforts are underway to ensure the timely inauguration of the training center within the current year.

Overall, the establishment of the Chakaria Regional Training Center represents a significant milestone in the region's healthcare infrastructure development. It not only provides essential training opportunities for healthcare workers but also underscores the government's commitment to improving healthcare services at the grassroots level. As construction nears completion, anticipation is high for the center's inauguration and the positive impact it will have on healthcare delivery in the region.
