The country's largest Eid congregation venue, Dinajpur’s Gor Shahid Eidgah, is set to host over three lakh worshipers for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha prayers.
The organizers have taken extensive measures to ensure smooth and safe proceedings, including the introduction of two special trains to facilitate travel for the worshipers.
The main congregation is scheduled for 8:30 AM, and in anticipation of the large turnout, stringent security measures have been put in place. National Parliament Whip Iqbalur Rahim MP, along with RAB-13 Battalion Commander Kamrul Hasan, Deputy Commander Major HM Omar Faruq, Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Shakil Ahmed, Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed, and Executive Engineer Abdullah Al Mamun have inspected the preparations at the field.
"During the last Eid-ul-Fitr, over five lakh worshipers gathered here. Although we expect slightly fewer participants this time due to animal sacrifices, the number of worshipers will still be significant," said Whip Iqbalur Rahim. "To facilitate the worshipers, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has arranged for two special trains."
One train will travel from Panchagarh to Dinajpur, stopping at Thakurgaon, Pirganj, Sultanpur, Setabganj, and Mongalpur. The second train will run from Parbatipur to Dinajpur, stopping at Monmothpur, Kaugai, and Chirirbandar. These trains will carry worshipers to Dinajpur station and then return them to their respective stations after the prayers.
Major HM Omar Faruq of RAB-13 emphasized the security arrangements, mentioning that a watchtower will be set up in the middle of the 23-acre field. The area will be monitored by RAB, police, and plainclothes intelligence officers using drones and CCTV cameras.
"We do not foresee any threats of sabotage, but all necessary measures are in place to ensure safety," he added. Additionally, ambulances, medical teams, and members of the police control room will be on standby to address any emergencies.
Organizers are hopeful for a full turnout, provided the weather remains favourable.
