Two young women killed in Joypurhat road accident

Two young women were killed when a stone-laden truck hit their bike on the Joypurhat-Dhamoirhat road in front of Mongolbari Moyez Memorial Degree College in Sadar Upazila on Thursday (27 June). The deceased were identified as Zuthi Sultana, 22, daughter of Entadul Haque, resident of Imbarpur village of Sadar upazila and Maryam Begum, 20, wife of Shakil Hossain, a resident of Ishua Khatta village of the upazila.

The accident occurred in the area around 7 am when they were going to Joypurhat train station riding a motorcycle.

Zuthi died on the spot and injured Maryam was sent to Sadar Upazila Health Complex where she succumbed to her injuries, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Humayun Kabir said.

Police seized the truck, but its driver and helper managed to escape, the OC added.
