A 13-year-old madrasha student drowned in the Turag Riverin Rupnagar area of the capital on Friday (28 June) evening.
The deceased was identified as Md Yamin, son of Rabiul Islam and a resident of the area.
According to locals, Yamin drowned when he was bathing in the Turag River.
Later, police recovered the body from the river and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy around 12 am.
Shah Ali Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Ruhul Amin confirmed the matter.
Abdul Matin, brother of the deceased, said, Yamin was a student at a nearby madrasa and the youngest among two brothers and a sister in the family.
