Blood-stained body of elderly night guard recovered in Kushtia

The blood-stained body of an elderly night guard was recovered from his home in Bijoynagar village in Mirpur, Kushtia on Saturday (29 June).

Deceased Monir Hossain Moni, 80, was the son of the late Akubbar and was employed as a night guard at the village home of one Abdul Razzak Mithu, who resides in Dhaka with his family.

His hands and feet were burnt, and there were injury marks on the head.

Locals said Moni guarded the house for over five years and lived alone in an outer room.

Mirpur police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafa Habibullah, said locals found Moni missing in the morning and later noticed the blood-stained body lying on his bed through the window when they searched.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.

Observing the circumstance, it seemed that it was a planned murder, he said, adding that the victim's hands and feet were burnt.

Police are working to uncover who committed this crime and why, the OC said.
