A woman was killed in a road accident on the Joypurhat-Bogura highway in Hichmi area under Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday (6 June).
The deceased was identified as Rabeya Begum, 60, wife of Shamsul Haque of Paikar village under Sadar upazila of the district.
The accident occurred in the area as a truck hit her when she was walking to the Hichmi Bazar on the side Joypurhat-Bogura highway around 12:30 pm this afternoon. She was seriously injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Humayun Kabir said.
The injured was taken to Joypurhat 250-bed General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead, he said.
A case was filed in this connection, the OC added.
