The spice of chili is increasing day by day in Fulbari, Dinajpur. The price of green chili has increased by 50 taka per kilogram in one day. It is being sold at 180 taka per kilogram. Just a day before, it was sold at 130 taka per kilogram.

On Saturday, this picture was seen by visiting the local vegetable market in Fulbari Pourashava area. It is observed that despite the normal import of Indian and locally produced green chilies, the price of green chilies has increased by 50 taka per kilogram and is being sold at 180 taka. Whereas on the previous Friday (July 26), the same green chilies were sold at 130 taka per kilogram.

Local retail vegetable sellers Shahinur Islam, Saiful Islam, and others said that local wholesale traders are controlling the prices of all kinds of vegetables, especially green chilies, through syndicates at this moment. The way they set the price in the morning, retail traders are forced to sell accordingly.

Despite having enough stock of green chilies in every wholesale trader's house, they are selling by increasing the price by 50 taka per kilogram under the pretext of less import. Whereas a day before, on Friday (July 26), green chilies were sold at 130 taka per kilogram.

When Palash Das and Abdul Kader, who came to buy vegetables, were talked to, they said that they could buy green chilies at 130 taka per kilogram a day before, but on Saturday (July 27), it is being sold at 180 taka per kilogram, an increase of 50 taka per kilogram.

Wholesale traders Shamsul Islam and Deepak Kumar said that the price of green chilies has increased slightly due to the decrease in import in the market. Therefore, the price in the retail market has also increased. If the import increases, the price in the retail market will decrease.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mir Mohammad Al Kamah Tamal said that the market monitoring by the Upazila administration in the vegetable market is ongoing. If anyone still tries to increase the price of any commodity for higher profit, legal action will be taken against them.
