The water from hill floods along the Naikhongchhari -Myanmar border has overflowed both banks of the Tumbru Canal, submerging Tumbru Bazaar and five villages in Ghumdhum Union. Additionally, the main road in the area remained flooded from 11 AM until the time of writing (5 PM), disrupting all communication along this section of the border road.
Meanwhile, fifth-grade student Md. Imran, who went missing after being swept away by the floodwaters in the Tumbru Canal, has yet to be found. Divers and relatives have been searching for him for two days.

According to the family, Md. Imran was playing with other children on the bank of the Tumbru Canal when he was swept away by the floodwaters as the canal bank eroded. The incident occurred at around 1:30 PM on Monday, and divers were brought in to search from the evening until night but were unsuccessful. Although the divers were expected to return on Tuesday morning (July 30), they did not. However, the family remains determined to find him.

Locals reported that continuous rainfall over the past two days has caused the water level from the hill floods in Myanmar to double, submerging five villages in the Tumbru area. The canal and surrounding areas are now completely flooded.

Local Tumbru Bazaar traders Ali Akbar, Shahjahan, and Hossain Ahmad reported that most of Tumbru Bazaar has been submerged due to the two days of continuous rain. Additionally, the villages of Konarpara, Tumbru Schoolpara, Madhyampara, Uttarpara, and Tumbru West Coast are now underwater, as well as parts of the border road, disrupting communication for the residents.

Meanwhile, the Naikhongchhari -Ramu road, which was cut off by rain on Sunday night and Monday, reopened on Tuesday morning. However, intermittent rain continues throughout Naikhongchhari  Upazila.

Moreover, the Bailey Bridge near the Naikhongchhari  BGB Battalion on the road has become unstable due to the floodwaters and could collapse at any moment.

Regarding this, Upazila Project Officer (PIO) Abdullah Al Noman said that he has informed the district office after becoming aware of the situation. They will extend help once they receive a response.
