Two siblings died in Gopalganj road accident

Two siblings were killed and another was injured in a road accident after being hit by a truck on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Domrakandi area under Muksudpur upazila of the district on Thursday (1 August).

The deceased were identified as Bashar Sheikh, 40, and his brother Khayer Sheikh, 35, sons of Rahen Sheikh of Bishwambhardi village under Muksudpur upazila. They were passengers of the battery-run auto rickshaw.

The accident occurred in the area when a Dhaka-bound bus of Sakura Paribahan and a Dhaka-bound truck hit the battery-run auto rickshaw around 1:30 pm, leaving two siblings dead on the spot and the driver of the battery-run auto rickshaw injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Muksudpur Police Station Ashraful Alam said.

The injured was taken to Rajoi Upazila Health Complex for treatment, OC said.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital morgue.

Police seized the bus and truck from the spot, the OC added.
