Low lying areas including hundreds of acres of crops land like Aus paddy and vegetables land were inundated in Bhola district due to four days counties heavy shower which disrupted normal life started from Tuesday (30 July) last.
Due to the torrential rain and water of tidal surge the water level in the river Meghna and Tetulia were also rises and over flooded the adjacent Char areas of coastal areas near the Bay.
As a result low income group of common people including fishermen, rickshaw puller and day labourers faced hard time without any earning as they passed lazy time. People cannot come from home due to the continuous rainfall.
Malek Majhi of Hilsha fish ghat area of Bhola sadar a fisherman and fishing trawlers owner told this correspondent that he and other six fishermen of his trawler did not go to the river for catching fish for past two days because of windy weather and could not catche fish. Hence, they are passing hard time to maintain their family members.
Due to the on rush of rain water hundreds of acres of standing crops including aus paddy and vegetables land is under threat of damages. Some farmers said that huge lands of Aman seedling were also inundated in rural areas which may hamper the upcoming Aman paddy cultivation.
While contacted Warisul Hasan the deputy director of DAE Bhola office said that the field level officer were directed advise farmer to prepare aman seedbeds in high land which may not be go under water to save seedlings from inundation.
