A man hacked to death his wife and mother-in-law due to family disputes when they were sleeping at their home in Kashkhali village under Kawkhali upazila of the district last night.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Akhtar, 26, and her elderly mother Ayesha Khatun, 61. They are residents of Kashkhali village in Kawkhali upazila of the district.
Police arrested the killer, Md. Billal Hossain, 35.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kawkhali Police Station Rajeev Chandra Kar said due to a family disputes, the killer hacked to death his wife and mother-in-law while they were sleeping at their home last night.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Rangamati General Hospital for post mortem, he said.
Md Ismail, the brother of victim Fatema Akhter, filed a murder case at Kaukhali Police Station in this regard, the OC added.
