The Local Government Department has issued a notification removing the chairman of 60 Zilla Parishads including Narayanganj Zilla Parishad. A notification in this regard has been issued by the local government department on Sunday (August 18).
The notification states that District Commissioners (DCs) will perform duties in place of removed Zilla Parishad chairmen.
The notification also said that the administrators in charge will get only duty allowance and other benefits as per the prevailing rules for holding the post.
The interim government issued separate ordinances to amend the municipal, upazila, district and city corporation laws, leaving the power to remove local government representatives and appoint administrators in special circumstances. This ordinance was issued last Saturday.
