Ashulia Press Club forms new 11-member convening committee

Ashulia Press Club has formed a new 11-member convening committee under the slogan "Journalism in the Interest of the Nation."

On Monday (August 26), the committee was formed during a discussion meeting held in the Ashulia Press Club hall room in Baipail, Ashulia. Lokman Hossain Khoka Chowdhury, the Ashulia representative of the daily newspaper Desh Rupantor, was made the convener, and Sohel Rana, the Savar representative of Banik Barta, was appointed as the member secretary.

The committee also includes joint conveners Md. Omar Faruk, editor of Alokito Kantho, and Md. Shahinur Rahman Shahin, the Savar representative of private television channel Desh TV.

Other members of the convening committee include Shefali Akhter Mitu, the Ashulia representative of private television channel Banglavision; Humayun Kabir, the Savar representative of Kalbela daily and private television channel Ekhon TV; Jahangir Alam Raju, a member of the press club; Shamsuzzaman Shams, the Savar correspondent for Prothom Alo; Imtiazul Islam Jibon, the Savar representative of Khabarer Kagoj; Md. Aslam Howlader of Bangladesh Tribune; and Mohammad Yasin of Swadhin Bangla daily.

A special prayer and dua were held for the peace of the souls of all, including Abu Sayeed, who was killed in the anti-discrimination student movement.

The discussion meeting was attended by many, including Mahfuzur Rahman Nipu, Savar correspondent for Jamuna TV; Rakib Hasan Jillu, Ashulia representative of Somoyer Alo; senior press club members Kamal Chowdhury and Abul Hayat Bachchu; Md. Tuhin Ahmed, Ashulia representative of Naya Diganta; Mahidul Islam Mahid, Savar representative for Bangla News; Hasan Bhuiyan, Ashulia representative of Amar Sangbad; Shahin Alam, Ashulia representative of Global TV; and Sharifuzzaman Fahim, Savar representative for Pratidiner Bangladesh, among others.
