During an anti-discrimination student movement in Dhaka's Ashulia, a video showing police stacking multiple bodies in a van has gone viral on social media. In response, a four-member investigation committee has been formed, consisting of additional superintendents of police and DSB officials.

On Sunday (September 1), following an inspection of Ashulia police station, Dhaka District Police Superintendent (SP) Ahmad Muyid confirmed the formation of the committee to journalists.

"The viral video has come to our attention. We are taking necessary actions. A committee has already been formed, and they are investigating the matter. We have received cooperation from everyone involved. We have identified those who were present at the scene, but we are not disclosing their names at this time for further action. The video evidence has been reviewed, but we haven't found physical evidence yet. We are also investigating a missing person's report filed yesterday. We hope to achieve a satisfactory outcome soon," SP Muyid stated.

In response to a question about whether there will be any legal action against the police involved, he said, "Whoever commits a crime will be prosecuted, police are not above the law."

The police superintendent added, "Not only civilians, but many police officers have also been burned to death. Cases of police killings will be filed. The Chief Advisor has given clear instructions to take serious action in cases of human rights violations."

Earlier, on Thursday (August 29), a 1-minute 14-second video went viral on social media. The video shows two police officers holding a corpse by its hands and feet and throwing it into a van filled with bodies, covering it with a banner bearing Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's image. At 1 minute 6 seconds into the video, a poster is seen on the adjacent wall, which belongs to Abul Hossain Bhuiyan, a youth leader of Dhamsona Union under Ashulia Thana and a candidate for Ward No. 7. This poster helped confirm that the incident took place near Ashulia police station.
