In Noakhali, 255 people have been hospitalized due to snake bites caused by the recent floods. The increasing number of snakebite cases has caused widespread panic among the residents.

On Monday (September 2), Dr. Syed Mohiuddin Abdul Azim, Resident Medical Officer of Noakhali General Hospital, confirmed the information. However, he was unable to provide immediate details about the identities of the injured.

He explained that continuous rain over the past fourteen days, combined with water from the Feni's Muhuri River inundating Noakhali, has led to widespread flooding. As a result, many areas across eight upazilas in the district have been submerged to knee depth, disrupting daily life.

In the last 24 hours, 25 people have been admitted to hospitals after being bitten by snakes while working in flooded fields, homes, and other areas. Locals believe that the excessive rain and floods have driven snakes out of their burrows and into human habitations.
