The body of student Osman Goni, who was killed in a shooting by Awami League and Jubo League members during an anti-discrimination student movement in Laxmipur, has been exhumed from his grave. On Monday, September 2, following a court order, the body was exhumed for an autopsy one month after burial. The body has been sent to the morgue at the district hospital for examination.
According to sources, the body was exhumed from the grave in the presence of Shahid Arman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Raipur Upazila, under the orders of the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Laxmipur's Amli region. After the autopsy, the body will be reburied under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner.
It is reported that on August 4, leaders from the Awami League and its affiliated organizations opened fire on the protesters in the Tamij Market area of Laxmipur, killing Osman Goni and three other students. The body was buried in a family graveyard in Sonapur Union of Raipur Upazila the same day without an autopsy. Osman was the son of Abdur Rahman from the Basabari area.
Shahied Arman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of Raipur Upazila, stated that the body of martyr Osman was exhumed under the orders of the judicial court. After the autopsy, the body will be reburied under the Assistant Commissioner's supervision.
According to sources from the Sadar Model Police Station, four students were killed in the shooting by Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League members on August 4 in Laxmipur. A case has been filed naming 91 individuals and 200 unidentified persons as accused in the murders of Osman and Sabbir. On August 14, Sabbir's father, Amir Hossain, filed a combined case at the Sadar Model Police Station.
