Collision between 2 microbuses leaves 17 injured in Sherpur

At least 17 people including children and women were injured in a head-on collision between two microbuses on Sherpur-Mymensingh highway in Sherpur sadar upazila early Monday.

Thirteen of the injured were shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) from Sherpur Sadar Hospital.

Of them, condition of three were stated to be critical.

Police and hospital sources said the speeding microbuses collided with each other in front of a local passport office in Nabinnagr area on the highway around 5:15am, leaving all including drivers of the vehicles injured.

Later, locals and Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel rescued them and rushed them to Sherpur Sadar Hospital and later shifted to the MMCH, they said.

Sadar Police Station’ Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Jahangir Alam confirmed the accident.
