A man and his 11-year-old daughter, who went missing in the Dhaleshwari river on Wednesday, were found dead at Baira Kheyaghat in Singair upazila of Manikganj district.
The deceased were identified as Mahidur Rahman, 50, and his daughter Rafa Akter, a class VII student at Baira High School.
Divers from the local fire service recovered the bodies from the Kheyaghat area around 8 am, said Md Shahjahan, a member of Ward 3 of Baira Union.
Mahidur took Rafa to the river in the morning to teach her how to swim.
At one stage, Rafa drowned in the river. Mahidur also went missing while trying to save his daughter.
On information, divers from Singair Fire Service rushed to the spot and conducted a rescue operation.
