The water level rises in the three major rivers of the district after four days of receding as there is no chance of flooding afresh, officials said.

District Water Development Board (WDB) office said water level rose four centimeters in Padma, five centimeters in Mohananda and 13 centimeters in Punarvaba during the last 24 hours.

But, the water level is flowing much below the danger level in the rivers, it said.

The danger level marks 22.05 meter in Padma, 20.55m in Mohananda and 21.55m in Punarvaba. But, the water level now touches 20.72m mark at Panka point in Padma, 19.09m at Khalghat point in Mohananda and 19.61m at Rohonpur point in Punarvaba, sources added.

WDB Executive Engineer SM Ahsan Habib said due to rainfall at upstream, the water level has risen and it is likely to continue for three or four more days.

He said as per the present situation, there is hardly chance of massive flooding in the district.
