BGB school building inaugurated in Rangamati

A school building built by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Punnamanichhara area, a remote bordering hilly region of Jurachhari Upazila of Rangamati district, was inaugurated.

On behalf of the Commander of the Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB), Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanzilur Rahman Bhuiyan, the Camp Commander of the subordinate Kachutoli TOB, Naib Subedar Md. Hasan Zahid, inaugurated the school by hoisting the national flag, said a BGB press release.

Various educational materials including notebooks, pens and wooden pencils were distributed among the 47 students of the school. The BGB later handed over the school to local businessman Shanti Moy Chakma for maintenance it.

At that time, BGB members of Kaptai Battalion and parents of students and distinguished people of the society were present.  On July 30, 2024, Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanzilur Rahman Bhuiyan, Commander of Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB) of BGB and Waggachhara Zone Commander, visited the remote border area of Kachutali TOB as part of his regular activities.

During the visit, he exchanged views with local traders, members and the general people of the area.  At that time, the local people called for construction of a school in the Punnamanichhara area, which is the responsibility of Kachutali TOB.

The BGB's Kaptai Battalion and Waggachhara Zone Harmony and Development Project took measures to build a school house in Punnamanichhara Para, 111 km away from the zone headquarters, to ensure quality education for the boys and girls of a total of 55 families, including 47 from the Chakma community and 08 from the Tanchangya community.
