Man allegedly abducts niece for ransom in Cox’s Bazar

The Rapid Action Battalion on Wednesday informed that they arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in abducting a minor girl for ransom at Ramu upazila in Cox's Bazar on November 10. 

The arrested were identified as Hasnainul Haque alias Naim, 23, son of Nurul Absar and his associate Md Shahin, 25, son of Abdus Sobhan of Fatekharkul Union in Ramu Upazila in Cox’s Bazar, said Md Kamruzzaman, senior assistant director of RAB-15. 

They were arrested in Link Road area in Cox's Bazar on early Wednesday, said Md Kamruzzaman. 

The victim was an eight-year-old girl and niece of arrested Hasnainul Haque alias Naim, said RAB officials. 

Additional police superintendent Md Kamruzzaman told The Daily Messenger that Hasnainul Haque alias Naim wanted to go abroad and he asked money from his family. As family denied to give money to him, he planned to abduct his eight-year-old niece for ransom. 

"Naim and Shahin abducted the minor girl from the gate of Emdadul Ulum Madrassah on November 10 while she was going to Madrassah. Later, they demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom from the girl's family. The victim's mother filed a case with Ramu police station on November 11," the offcial said.

"RAB members conducted a drive at Link Road area and arrested Naim and Shahin over the incident and rescued the victim. The duo were handed over to Ramu police station for further legal procedures," he added.
