Hathazari Upazila administration on Wednesday seized a total of 5,000 meters of illegal fishing nets from the Halda River, a vital fish breeding ground in South Asia.
Acting on a tipped-off, Hathazari Upazila administration seized the illegal fishing nets from the Halda river adjacent to Garaduara Union, Uttar Madarsha, Raozan area on early Wednesday, ABM Mashiuzzaman, upazila nirbahi officer of Hathazari, told The Daily Messenger.
""Anyone found engaging in illegal fishing activities will face strict legal action. The drive will continue to protect our valuable natural resources," the UNO said.
Senior upazila fisheries officer Md. Aminul Islam, IDF officials, members of the union parishad's village police, volunteers from the upazila administration, and members of the Halda Egg Collection Cooperative Society assisted in the drive.
