Police arrested an alleged criminal with arms and ammunition from the Nazirghat area in the city last night.
A team of DB of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) conducted a drive in the aforesaid area around 8:30pm yesterday and arrested Alinoor Dablu while he was taking preparation to commit a crime, Deputy Commissioner (Detective Branch) Md Anwar Hossain said during a press briefing held at Sonadanga police station.
Deputy Commissioner (south) of KMP Moniruzzaman Mithu, among others, was present there.
Police also seized a foreign-made pistol and ammunition from his possession. Following his confessional statement, police also recovered some local weapons from his residence located in the Nazirghat area.
Police suspected that the arrested recently committed a heinous crime as fresh blood was found in gupti kept at his house, he said, adding that drives will continue to arrest his cohorts and recover more illegal arms.
A case was filed with the Sonadanga police station in this regard today. The arrested is accused in several cases filed with different police stations in the city.
