Police arrested three people, including two siblings, in connection with the murder of a textile college student, from the city's Shahjahanpur area on Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Hasan and his brother Hossain, and Tonmoy. Earlier, Ismail Hossain Rahat, 17, a student of Faridpur Textile College and son of Belayed Hossain of Faridpur district was stabbed in front of a shop in Shantibagh area on Monday afternoon.
He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital from where he was taken to Shantibagh home after giving first aid. As his condition worsened, Rahat was taken to a hospital in Kakrail where he succumbed to his injuries around 3:00 am.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue on Tuesday.
Moin Uddin, uncle of deceased Rahat, said Rahat passed SSC from Rajarbagh Police Line School and College. Later he was admitted to Faridpur Textile College. He was a resident of Shantibagh area.
Rahat on Monday said he had an enmity with some classmates including the two siblings over considering them as seniors. As he did not obey them, they along with Himel beat Rahat up mercilessly and stabbed him with sharp weapons in the Shantibagh area. Mehdi Hasan, sub-inspector of Shahjahanpur police station said that Rahat was stabbed by his rivals over senior-junior conflict.
A case was filed in this connection.
