The Hazarikhil Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled in the serene landscapes of Fatikchhari in Chattogram, has become an enchanting destination for nature enthusiasts. Hazarikhil is home to over 123 species of birds, including rare and endangered ones like the Great Hornbill, Woodpecker, and Mothura. Unique birds such as the Hoopoe, Blue Magpie, and Indian Roller also call this sanctuary home, making it a paradise for bird lovers.

Declared the Ramgarh-Sitakunda Reserve Forest in 1893, Hazarikhil has a long history of conservation. Local authorities are working to maintain its natural beauty while promoting it as a sustainable tourist destination.
Fatikchhari upazila LGED officer Tanmoy Nath told The Daily Messenger that they would continue to work with preserving nature.
SM Kaiser, divisional forest officer of Chattogram north forest division told The Daily Messenger that “We encourage tourism, but not at the expense of the environment. Visitors can enjoy Hazarikhil’s beauty by following the rules.”
“We are committed to preserving the natural environment while making Hazarikhil a prime destination for eco-tourism,” Fatikchhari upazila nirbahi officer Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury told The Daily Messenger.
