Seven officials of Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samity-2, including four officers and three linemen, have been suspended over the death of three students of the (IUT) and the injury of several others in Gazipur.
The seven officials are Deputy General Manager of Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samity-2 Kamlesh Chandra Barman, Deputy General Manager of Mawna Zonal Office Khondker Mahmudul Hasan, Assistant General Manager Md Tanvir Salahuddin, Junior Engineer Motiur Rahman and linemen Parvez Mia, Shakhawat Hossain and Abul Kashem.
On Saturday three IUT students died by electrocution and around 6-7 were left injured after a bus taking them to a picnic came into contact with an overhead bare electric wire in Gazipur's Sreepur.
The deceased were Mozammel Hossain Naim, 24, Mostakim Rahman Mahin, 22, and Jobayer Alam Sakib, 22. Md Akmal Hossain, General Manager (GM) of Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samity-2, confirmed the matter.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur has formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident.
