Two persons were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents at Patiya and Sitakunda upazilas of the district.
The deceased were identified as Md Abul Kalam, 55, son of Kala Mia of Uttar Kharana Fakirpara of Patiya upazila and Md Fatik Islam, 35, of Anantapur area under Barabkunda union of Sitakunda upazila.
In Patiya, the accident took place when a Cox’s Bazar-bound passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Kamal Munsir Hat area on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway leaving Kalam dead on the spot and injured two others.
Police seized the two vehicles. In Sitakunda, the accident occurred when a bus hit pedestrian Fatik at Barabkunda Bazar on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway last night.
Injured Fatik was admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.
