Fisheries and Livestock adviser Farida Akhter on Tuesday emphasized that hard work, punctuality, honesty, efficiency, moral values, and a sense of responsibility towards the country and nation form the cornerstone of career development and national progress.
She shared these thoughts as the chief guest at the passing out parade of the 43rd batch of cadets from the Marine Fisheries Academy in Chattogram on Tuesday morning.
Adviser Farida Akhter lauded the academy's cadets, calling them fearless navigators of the deep sea, equipped with knowledge earned through rigorous training and relentless effort.
She expressed confidence that their expertise would significantly benefit their future workplaces.
Highlighting the importance of the Bay of Bengal as a vital source of natural resources, Farida Akhter said that it continually provides a substantial amount of fish to meet the nation’s protein needs.
The cadets must play a pivotal role in sustainable fish collection, conservation, and marketing, as well as in preserving biodiversity and preventing environmental pollution, she said.
This year, the academy celebrated the graduation of 106 cadets, including 12 women, from its 43rd batch. Adviser Farida Akhter distributed medals to the graduates in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
Principal of Marine Fisheries Academy captain Md Hasan, senior secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock MA Akmal Hossain Azad, additional secretaries Amena Begum and Syeda Nowara Jahan, Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Ziauddin, among others, were present on the occasion.
