Two people died and three other injured in Kishoreganj's Kuliarchar Upazila on Tuesday. The accident occurred aroun 9:45 am near the Bajra Petrol Pump on the Kishoreganj-Bhairab highway, said of Bhairab Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saju Mia.
The deceased were identified as autorickshaw driver Kalam alias Kalachan (42), and a passenger, Abu Helal Bhuiyan (50). Both of them died on the spot.
According to police and locals, a head-on collision took place between a CNG-run autorickshaw heading towards Kishoreganj from Bhairab and a microbus coming from the opposite direction. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the crash.
The injured injured have been admitted to Bajitpur Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital for treatment. "The bodies have been brought to the police station. Legal steps will be taken based on complaints, the OC said.
Further investigations are ongoing regarding the accident, he added.
