Everest Base Camp cyclist Tammat honored in Ctg

Chattogram witnessed a celebration of courage and determination as the city hosted a cycling rally and reception in honor of Tammat Bil Khair, the cyclist who conquered Everest Base Camp. The event brought together hundreds of cycling enthusiasts and showcased the vibrant spirit of the young generation.

The events were organised by Somogro Bangladesh, a group dedicated to preserving the country’s history, on Friday. The rally started from CRB intersection and ended at Halishahar BDR field where 300 cyclists from home and abroad particpiated.

The rally’s route covered Tigerpass, Dewanhat, Agrabad Access Road, and Nayabazar before concluding in Halishahar, where Tammat was warmly received with flowers and a crest.

The event titled “We Can Too” honored Tammat Bil Khair’s extraordinary achievement and was supported by School Alternative. 

Mahidul Islam Nakib, CEO of Somogro Bangladesh, said “Our goal is to bring such talents into the spotlight, inspiring the next generation to dream big.”

"We aimed to inspire the younger generation with innovative thinking, celebrate Tammat’s outstanding success, and motivate youth to achieve greater heights through determination and effort,"he added. 

Shahidul Alam, CEO of School Alternative, described Tammat’s feat as a remarkable example for young people and said “With willpower and hard work, any challenge can be conquered.”

Speaking at the event, Tammat Bil Khair said, “This is not just a rally; it’s a celebration of the strength and passion of youth. Such initiatives will promote environmental awareness and energize the cycling movement in the future.”

During the program, Somogro Bangladesh unveiled their theme song and held a special Q&A session for the cyclists.
