Workshop on controlling noise pollution held in Chattogram

A workshop on controlling noise pollution and raising public awareness was held in Chattogram on Tuesday. 

The workshop, titled "Health Risks of Noise Pollution and Measures for Control," was jointly organised by the Chattogram Divisional Commissioner’s Office and the Department of Environment at the Chattogram Circuit House.

Nasim Farhana Shirin, director of the Department of Environment's Chattogram Research Office presided over the workshop while Dr. Md. Ziauddin, divisional commissioner (additional secretary), attended as the chief guest.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police's deputy commissioner (crime and operations) Md. Rois Uddin, additional deputy commissioner (general) Md. Kamruzzaman, and Dr. Miton Chakma, assistant professor and ENT specialist at Chattogram Medical College, were attended as the special guests. 

Speakers at the workshop highlighted the harmful effects of noise pollution on health and discussed strategies for prevention and control. They urged the need for collective efforts from all sectors to tackle the problem effectively.

Representatives from government and non-government organizations, NGOs, transportation and shipping workers, educational institutions, religious organizations, media professionals, and staff from the Department of Environment’s Chattogram office were the participants at the workshop.
