The Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain on Thursday emphasized the importance of moral education in shaping children into responsible and compassionate individuals. He spoke as the chief guest at the annual sports and prize distribution ceremony of Panchlaish Al Rawa English School.
Mayor Shahadat stressed that moral education, alongside academic learning, is crucial for building a values-driven society.
"Today's children are tomorrow's leaders. While educational institutions play a significant role, families must also ensure children receive moral education. This is key to nurturing individuals with strong human values," he said.
"A person may become a good doctor through studies, but if they refuse to treat a poor patient for free, their knowledge loses its value. Similarly, in every profession, humanity must be upheld to make a meaningful impact" the mayor explained.
"Moral education can help create a corruption-free and prosperous Bangladesh. Our future judges, leaders, and professionals must understand that without morality, their education holds little value. This is the foundation for a better nation, " said Dr. Shahadat.
The mayor also announced plans to enhance recreational facilities for children.
"We aim to develop playgrounds, walking paths, and children’s parks in all 41 wards of the city. These facilities are essential for the mental and physical well-being of our children, providing them a happy and healthy childhood," he informed.
Al Rawa English School's principal Nishat Quadri presided over the programme while Professor Dr. Chowdhury Mohammad Monirul Hasan, Dr. Nurul Amin, Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Khan, Md. Abu Taher, and Moslem Uddin were present as the special guests.
